R9 280X or GTX 960? (First PC,Budget build)

brolaugh_
Go to solution Solved by comicsansms,

R9 280x and the R9 285/380 are faster than the GTX 960.

HD 7990 > R9 390 > R9 290 > R9 380x > R9 280x = HD 7970 > R9 380 = R9 285 > GTX 960 > R9 280 = HD 7950

Also there is a cheaper R9 280x http://pcx.com.ph/components/graphics-card/powercolor-axr9-280x-3gbd5-t2dhe-oc.html

And a R9 285 2GB http://pcx.com.ph/components/graphics-card/powercolor-r9-285-2gbd5-tdhe-2gb-ddr5-256bit-videocard.html

im going to overclock it ... will the stock be enough???

No. Get a Hyper 212 evo.

Beats all the build out here.

Exactly $1000

If you want a cooler, Add Hyper 212 evo. But that's off budget. But I'd recommend it. Because of overclocking capability.

AsRock Z170 mobos can overclock non "K" CPUs.

i live in pasig city , manila

Do you have facebook? Here's the current Christmas deals of PCHub ( https://www.facebook.com/pchub/photos/a.173206706042596.56107.169501483079785/1159229184107005/?type=3&theater ).

PCHub's located at G/F 692-694 Aurora Blvd. Cor. Gilmore Ave., Quezon City, 1112 Metro Manila. If it'll only take a couple of hours, it might be worth checking out if you do need some of their stuff. Be sure to call them first and inquire if the item is still available.

An i5-4460 has a locked multiplier. You can't overclock it. You don't really need to, tbh.

If you are going with the 4460, it's not worth getting a Z97 board.

And please don't buy a Gigabyte R9 390, those are the worst 390s out there.

From salty to bath salty in 2.9 seconds

I think it's due to the custom's taxes and shipping fees but yeah, unfortunately the Philippines isn't a very good place to buy hardware. There are other hardware that's pretty close to the price though but most of the time, it's not. That 290x is a very good deal, if I weren't at Cagayan right now (since my client flew me in to work on her program), I'd probably buy it.

Would the i5 4690k be good with the z97 pc mate motherboard or should i change it?

Yes.

Only "K CPUs can be overclocked on a "Z" series chipset.
