you could just unplug the HDD and install, then turn off PC, plug in HDD and turn it back on. but if your trying to transfer the OS from HDD to SSD you need to clone it.

Dumb question:

 

I have Windows 7 atm, and I have access to a free copy of windows 10. Buying a new 250GB ssd soon to go along with my two hard drives. How could I install Win10 to my SSD and not my HDD? Is there a path changer thingy during the install.

As said above, upgrade the current windows 7 to 10 make sure you activate w10. Then plug in the SSD and do a clean install on that drive booting from USB/dvd. Then just select the SSD in the install options, format, partition and install

 

Then make sure the SSD is first boot device, back up hdd to external (if required) format hdd and use as storage drive
