GPU Power cables.

Go to solution Solved by TheRandomness,

Supposed to use one cable.

I am installing my GTX 980 and my cables from the power supply I am unsure about. I need 2×8 pin connectors. But I have two 2×6+2 connectors each of which have another little 2×6+2 coming off them. So my question is, am I supposed to use one cable and little bit that comes off it too or am I supposed to use both cables and ignore the extensions?

Read The Manual.

Thy hath sinneth, and in thy life thou hast fallen to an unholy, unspeakable level of humanity. Thou hast given into your basest needs. And suffered many years under thine Satan-box. However, if thine be willing, as thy hast show yourself to be, thy can ascendeth into thy glorious fold of the glorious church. Go well, my brother, may your temps be low and your frames high. ~ MrDynamicMan

Hey mate,

If you really interested in buying GTX 980 and your PSU supports only 6 and 6+2 PCIe power cables I would recommend to find non-reference GPU that will fit in it.

For example ASUS GTX 980 the STRIX version needs 6 and 8 pin's so that would be good for you.

IMO you should buy 970 from MSI the 4G edition that also needs 6 and 8 pin connectors and after fair OC you can get pretty similar performance in most games as 980 :P

Sorry for my bad English.
