Router access point/booster?

I have an old router which i would like to use for ethernet, where could i put it, and how could i use it as a access point/booster? Im new to this kind of stuff. Thanks!

yeah.. i have a few of those, i usually put them in a big plastic tub until the cheap garbage my family buys breaks, so we have a replacement.

 

other than that, theres quite a few things you can do with them. double NAT, just a passive device, second default gateway (this is really fun for people who have two internet connections. saves a lot of copper in the wall), and so on.
