I currently have an AMD FX4350 CPU, and a 7950DD in my setup. I feel like I am getting lackluster performance in games as of late.

I am almost certain my CPU is the problem in this scenario, but would like to know if it's a combination of the two, being that the 7950 is starting to show it's age.

Would I be ok with just upgrading my CPU and MOBO to say, a mid-range I5? Or should I just replace all 3?

Thanks in advance!

I'd say you could probably get a year or two more out of the GPU if you really try to stretch it's life.

I'd say go with a higher-end i5. Maybe something like a 4690k.

You should still be seeing about 80% the performance of an r9 280x.

Would it be worth it to toss in an 8350 instead for like $180? Or will that still cause performance issues in some games?

I would have to say about $300 max.

You should get the i5 4460 and teh B85 MSI board :D.

Then the money you get in the future, put a new graphic card in it.

Because that CPU will bottleneck everything you feed it at this moment and your budget is not fantastic for a good graphics card.

That's definitely do-able... I'll check around for the best price. Thanks man.

Also, would it be worth upgrading to a 8350? Or would the single core performance be lacking?

Yeah, AMD has flunked at the CPU side, best avoid it unless you are going for a really low end build with a quad core.

That's what I figured. When I built my system, I only had a budget of like $400 and some spare parts lying around. Now that I have a steady job, I want to go a bit bigger. So the cpu did well for me over the past year or two.

You should be fine with an 8350, as my friend has one. A good OC will keep it alive and relevant for a few more years.
