99% memory usage

Hello,

I just built a new computer and this is my first day using it. After a few hours of use (playing video games watching live streams etc) my computer slows to a crawl and if i look at task manager it says i have 99% memory usage and my compute eventually completely freezes, I have 16gb of ram so i have no idea why this is happening. None of the processes show a high memory usage either. Any ideas?

on the topic of virus protection i do need one. Should i just go with avast or are there better free ones? yeah im on windows 10 so ill try disabling that
