Hello, i think i'm having some issues with my Gigabyte R9 290 3x windforce. When i play the game Rust on the lowest settings possible, with no post processing or anything on i get a maximum of 40-50 fps. Though, my friend who has a GTX 660( i think ) gets 60+ even when on medium-high graphics, from what i've read and understood on many places this is only a problem with the R9 290 and Rust( correct me if i'm wrong ). I've reinstalled drivers, checked bios, checked memory, installed game on my ssd, checked temps on cpu, mobo and ofcourse the gpu. I still can't figure out what the problem is, if it's the game that is poorly optimized for amd cards or if there's something wrong with my 290. I would appreciate any help as i get a fairly bad fps in any game i play. I bought the card for 3990 SEK which is about 646 CAD, and it should really not run all games as bad as my old HD 6870 1GB. Please help :C

Here are my full specs:

GPU: Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 Windforce 3X OC HDMI DP 2xDVI 4GB at 1040 mhz core and 1250 mhz memory.
RAM: 8GB Corsair 1600mhz, long time since i bought it, but still works and shouldn't be the problem.
MOBO: Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
PSU: Corsair GS600 W
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB
HDD: Samsung HD103SJ 1TB( not currently used for any games, only downloads etc )

Run program like gpuz to check the gpu usage. If its below 90%+ and still giving bad fps the issue is not your gpu.

If the gpu is running at 99% but giving bad fps, check the core clocks and see if they are what they should be (somewhere around 1050mhz)

Might be the case, but it should not be as low as it is, or am i wrong? my friend has an intel processor, don't remember which, only that it's an i5 @ around 3,2 ghz

Probably an i5-4460.

Rust runs on Unity right?

RAM Usage while playing on lowest is at 97%, it uses up 80% while starting and after a few hours it slowly works it's way up to 97%, but i have this lag issue in pretty much every game i play, even minecraft i get lower fps than my friend with a 1800SEK card..

Yes, rust runs on unity.

Unity isn't THAT poor of an engine. It's probably just the game itself and its (lack of) optimization, like Garry's Mod before it.
