Notebook does not see/recognize HDD

yimello
Go to solution Solved by yimello,

can you test any other hard drives

Ok that's a good sign, is it able to let you run the windows installer for it now?

I do not know what happened but I did restart multiple times and tried to run tests more and more and now it did pass all tests :o Now Win installation sees drive and I am installing OS now. Maybe that was a sign of dying HDD. Will see later. Thanks guys for help.

Hello

Notebook is giving me error 03F0. There was Win10 installed on HDD. All I tried:

Tried other HDD in that laptop. Same thing.

Tried HDD in my own PC. Recognized well.

Tried to reinstall Windows, does not see HDD.

Tried to repair Windows, boot etc. FAIL.

Formatted HDD in my own PC and put in laptop for fresh Win install, does not still see it.

Ran memory and HDD tests, all good.

HDD light is not acting anyhow in laptop. I hear HDD is spinning inside.

What could be a prob ? Cable from HDD to MB ? Connector on the MB? MB itself ? Where to start looking ? What to try ?

Thanks :)

If there is a ribbon connector between the motherboard and HDD that you can reseat try that sometimes moving it around or working with it can cause a bad contact. Are you not able to see the drive in the Laptop's BIOS at all?

Sorry I forgot to mention I have reseated and blown in the connector if there would be some dust or something. There is no info about HDD in BIOS.

Windows 10 does some confusing ass things to the boot loader.

I though about that, that is why I first tried to repair things. Lost 2 evenings for that useless tweaking... I think prob is somewhere else.

youd have to get a hard drive with 10 already on it then wipe it from there

Try wiping the drive and setting it as a different format and see if the laptop recognizes it, if it doesn't even show up in the BIOS that's a big problem.

Oh you understood this wrong. With that I meant I took out the HDD from laptop and connected to my desktop PC and formatted it. (Did not format my own HDD in desktop)

Okey. There was some progress with formatting HDD. I could not run any HDD tests in BIOS as it did not see it at all. Now it does allow me to test HDD but I get this (see picture).

No problemo.

Windows sometimes is screwy with hard drives.
