Can only think of two things going for AMD; price and more cores (better for multitasking). Other than that, you're pretty much better off with an Intel CPU for gaming and such. Hopefully Zen will change this.

Never is a ignorant choice of wording.

Zen has some high hopes and hey, you may never know. As of now yeah AMD Cpus are not the best ( Except the Athlon 860k )

Though, AMD GPUs are crushing Nvidia in almost every single price bracket, except the 980Ti and Fury X.

I don't think Zen is going to be good. I mean from what AMD claimed, there should be 6-8 cores with IPC of Haswell or a little higher for competitive prices, that would make me interested, but AMD seems to frequently fail to deliver up to the claims/hype ;-; I hope they succeed in competing, but I doubt that...

AMD will/has to do good... I hope they can realize this. If they cannot beat intel for just a few months, they are done for and basically I can see them falling into a GPU only company.

They'd probably dissolve beyond just the GPU portion.  The ideal scenario is Intel snagging Radeon and the x86_64 going to nVidia.  The two of them would compete for a great deal of team and Intel is just as good at open-source initiatives as AMD.  AMD's been spreading thin.  They -need- to do good.  But their brand in CPUs has been dead for a great, great, great deal of people and their market share for GPU's is minuscule - they need a win that can sway even the most die hard of people on team green, and that isn't likely coming.  A buyout would be amazing, but Samsung could never be allowed to buy them out, and the only other option is Microsoft for the most part.  It doesn't look good on their end.

Hopefully they pull through, but if not - hopefully Radeon is snagged by Intel and Nvidia can grab the CPU licensing so they and Intel can butt heads and compete as hard as the ghz wars.

This thread will only start (yet another) endless mud-slinging match of

argumentative trolling and flaming. Thus, this thread is locked. There

are plenty of threads like this on the forum already if you want to read

the answers.
