Shogun 2 disconnecting issues

So my friend and I finally got back to playing some Shogun 2 co-op.
We wanted to resume our campaign which we left weeks ago, only to find that we both constantly disconnect from the game.
We tried to start a new campaign, thinking it was a corrupted save file but we had the same issues.

Neither of us have any mods installed and we both have a solid internet connection (I have 120/5 and he has 6/1).
When we disconnect from the game we both still have an internet connection, so it can't be that.

Has anyone had the same problems?
Does anyone know how to fix this because I'm all out of ideas?

I'm thinking it's the CA servers...am I wrong?
