So like 8 years ago i created account on a sketchy looking website in order to acces a download, and it was then my mail was added to some scammer mail list and they have been pretty dedicated, and sent me around 4 mails every day for the last 8 years, so thats like 10000 mails, and some of them seemed pretty legit, and something my grandpa would fall for, like "you have recieved a facebook message" or "sale on these clothes, come and check it out" with a link leading to some wierd url, but most of them have just been really aweful, and i dont think ANYONE in the world would fall for them, here are some examples from the last 30 days:

Like, i think even someone with a negative IQ would relize that someone giving you 5 trillion dollars over mail for free is a scam

Has anyone else also gotten these really bad scam mails, or maybe even worse?

Ive thought about doing the same thing, but i cant bother doing it

Besides, gmail are really good at auto sorting scam mails, i think ive gotten like 2 or 3 scam mails in my normal inbox over these 8 years (might even be more)

Maybe it's just the Nigerian Prince.

thats why i use 2 different email accounts 1 for things like newegg amazon and other important things although newegg does send a bit of spam and a second email for all the sketchy websites and the random signups i go through. my good email still gets spam but its easy to block, but the other is like a train wreck with thousands of spam mails.

gmail is awesome for that because it sorts it all for you

I've actually found, that If you open those spammer emails, they actually send more or keep sending them. If you don't open them at all, they eventually die off. (That is, depending on the type / sender Y.M.M.V.)

I know because I accidentally opened one and immediately closed it. But then that day I received 20 more lol :)

Thanks!

Same here. 1 primary email for the "important stuff" and one, older throwaway email I use to register on forums or other sketchy websites.

Funny thing is though, the spam on the throwaway email went down considerably in the last year or so, so much that I think I'm getting more spam on my primary email (1 or 2 a day) than I do on the throwaway email now.

Then again, I also just use Thunderbird, so 99.99% of the spam in my emails never even reach me to begin with.

thanks for the tip, but i didnt open them from when i started getting them to recently (so around 7 years total), but maybe that depends on who is sending you the mails

I will see if they start sending me 8 mails per day after opening a bunch of them

never used gmail except for youtube. never liked it, mainly because google forced it on us, besides yahoo does that as well. I have mine set to sort mails by companies. like a folder for newegg and a folder for amazon.

you're missing out. gmail is so amazeballs. plus, google inbox, which is almost like gmail, but with newer features is also amazing.
