Hello, I am currently a bit frustrated with my laptop. I have an alienware 17 from 2013, and recently it started to show a message when booting, saying something around the lines of "the power adapter you are currently using is not supported, please go buy a dell 180w charger" So I checked the wattage and amperage, and everything was the same as specified on the charger, so I assumed it was a problem with the battery, so I got a new one and changed it out, but it is still showing all of the same problems so I am wondering what could be the problem, could it still be the charger? What could it be?

Yes

My guess is either the signal sensor wire in the charger is broken or the connection from the dc socket to the system board is broken (more likely and happens often over time). I am not too sure about how the socket connection is on the alienware 17 is but you may be able to solderer it although it should still be under warranty. Try the charger on another laptop if possible.
