Decent gaming laptops that can be upgraded

I was wondering what the best gaming laptop would be for around a budget of £1300. I've found this and this which seem reasonable. If anyone has any other suggestions let me know. A minimum of a Nvidia Geforce GTX 970m is required and asthetics don't bother me really.

Really I want the best price to performance I can get, as well as the possibility being to upgrade the GPU and CPU later on. I know most laptops ram, SSD's and HD's can be upgraded already.

Also are the two MSI ones I've selected upgradable with the CPU and GPU?

Check out Portable Part Picker, it allows you to look for specific components in a laptop.

Doesn't really help me regarding wheather they can be upgraded via the CPU and GPU.

Most laptops cannot be upgraded (other than memory and storage), except for certain ones in which you can upgrade the GPU.

Asus's 17in laptops

Alienware's 17in laptops

Almost anything with a Clevo chassis

Should be able to pick any of the above up for ~$1500. Alienware is probably the better option since there are detailed guides out there on how to upgrade each and every model with each and every graphics chip.

Check out notebook review forums

Just keep in mind, upgrading a laptops GPU/CPU is usually a stupid fucking idea and not cost effective whatsoever.

Fair enough, do you know if MSI or gigabyte laptops have this option at all?

A word of warning outdated bioses and headachy drivers have caused absolute headaches for upgrade able alienwares...effectively rendering them unupgradeable...

Just dont bother not worth it

If you have the money to shell out for a Gigabyte Aorus laptop then they're fine - those have beastly coolers (even though they're expensive AF).

I have a normal P35W laptop. If me and my brother are playing CS:GO together, the room heats up verrrrrry quickly.

Oh, and don't ever play games on one with it plugged in on your lap. You'll burn your lap.

If you could send this laptop to burn in hell, at the very least it wouldn't thermal throttle there.

If Hell ever freezes, send it there to fix it :D

Thats the main reason I think Alienware is the best option. There are a fuckton of guides for each model and each chip upgrade on notebook review including bios flashes and things.

Though I agree. Not worth it at all. Just that in that situation its better to go with Alienware over Sager since there is at least something to help and their support staff are pretty knowledgable about the upgrades. Upgrading Clevos is usually a free for all whereas with Alienware its, "M17x uses this bios and these altered drivers to power this GPU"]

Anyway, moral of the story. Don't worry about upgradability. Its not worth it at all.
