I have seen some videos and forums on GPU overclocking. I have tried it and got a fps increase by 4-5 in some games.

Wondering if its really worth it.

Also, I do not get a stable fps while playing games like assassins creed and farcry. Will processor or GPU OCing help it ?

If you only have a 5FPS increase that means you didn't really overclock a lot. (When I OC'd my GPU and CPU I went from 300fps in CS:GO to well over 500)

If your FPS isn't stable you probably have the game settings too high.

meh, i dont think its worth it, but most on this forum do, depends on the card for me

Although if you OC it will probably help you get a slightly more stable FPS in those games, but you should already have a stable FPS if you are using the 970 in your signature

Thanks,

I use FX 8150 at 3.9 Ghz and GTX 970 at default. Could you please share your settings, may be I can try overclocking around those and see the difference.

Overclocking is different for every chip. And specially Intel <-> AMD! Best thing you can do is sit down for a day and overclock with small increments and test if it's stable.

-edit-

I should also say that my overclock wasn't stable enough and my PC crashed every now and then. (Currently running everything at stock)

I use 970 at default clock. Maybe I should try a little overclocking or lower game settings. FX 8150 seems to be a bottleneck for my GPU.
