If U R using 8GB and 4GB sticks together, memory controller might not be able to adress that extra 4GB on newer stick (Rank's Difference).

RAM sticks should be the same type of RAM (eg. clockspeed) It's better to buy a set of RAM, eg. 2x4gb kit rather than buying 2 the same sticks of ram, because it wouldn't really want to work with each other. Same applies for this, there is a 2x4gb kit that works fine, and then there's a fucking scumbag 4gb from diffrent hood that nobody likes.

Ram doesn't have to be the same speed, it'll just run at the slower ram's speed when it's put in.

Maybe the voltage is unsupported?

Check advanced boot options in "Run..." command "msconfig".
UNCHECK maximum memory (if it is ticked), and restart laptop (do not put it in sleep/hibernation, it needs to shut down, and start again).
