Internet and Garrysmod

So the problem is that when I play garrysmod, it tanks the internet for everyone else at my house except for me, I am on wifi. Any ideas on what causes this, how I can fix this, or if anybody has even heard of this before? I would really like to play it more but I can't due to this issue.

Maybe try a ethernet (RJ-45) connection?
