A new motherboard probably isn't the key. Just make sure that voltages are high enough to drive a high OC. Unless your motherboard has trouble supplying the power to your CPU. It doesn't look like the VRM is cooled too much as stated previously.

3.8 is stable after 26 hours of prime95. I will get a new motherboard soon, an Asrock 970 Extreme 3. Thank you all for your help! i've learned new things. Thank you!
