Hi guys!

I have an older Samsung 40" tv. 2012-13 maybe?

Just bought Sony BDV-E4100 the surround set.

It's all new, so nothing is broken or has defect.

The same set worked perfectly with my mothers newer (2014) Phillips TV.

Just hooked it up through HDMI, and it installed itself onto the TV.

Every time i would watch TV, it would activate itself.

On this older samsung TV it tried to do the same,

it says TV-mode on the display, but no sound is coming out.

Seems like there is no proper connection.

Would adding an Optical audio cable work? ( they both support it).

The phillips tv worked without one. Just through HDMI.
