Motherboard Upgrade Help

Go to solution Solved by Guest SkyFall,

In a couple of weeks I plan to upgrade my motherboard from an ASrock Z97M Pro4 mATX to a MSI Z97 Gaming 5. Everything else that is inside of my system I will be keeping the same. When switching motherboards what precautions should I take, and will I have to reinstall windows 10 onto it?

Any help will be great.

Specs:

CPU: i5-4690K @ 4.4 Ghz

GPU: R9 390

PSU: EVGA G2 750W

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8 Gigs

SSD: HyperX Fury 120 Gb with Windows 10 installed onto it

HDD: WD Blue 1 TB with games and other applications

Make a backup of all your data, just in case you damage something while changing the mainboard.

You will have to call Microsoft to give you a new product key since keys are tied to a motherboard.

Is there a reason you are upgrading other than aesthetics?

The main reason is for aesthetics and also for the ASrock motherboard is going to be put into a different build for just office use.
