Hello,

Essentially I am having a problem where my computer momentarily loses power while doing a variety of things then immediately regains it and restarts.

After some troubleshooting here’s what I’ve found out:

  • It’s not the power supply: I’ve tested three different power supplies and the problem persisted through all of them (2x EVGA Hadron u1 power supply and 1x Corsair RMx 650x power supply)

  • At first I thought it was the ram but I’ve tested two different sets of 4GBx2 dimms and one 8GBx1 configurations. I’ve also switched to only one stick, switched slots, tried every possible variation.

  • I am able to consistently reproduce the shutdown using prime95’s Blend and In-place FFT tests but not the Small FFT test (Key point here is that both the blend and in-place fft tests test a considerable amount of ram whereas the small FFT tests very little).

  • Changing the memory voltage and frequency to various values tends to change how quickly the computer restarts during the stress test (typically low voltage and lower frequency is better.)

So I’ve come to the fair conclusion that the problem comes from the dimm slots on my motherboard. Unfortunately I can’t RMA it and I don’t have money to replace it with. Even if I did there aren’t many 1150 z97 motherboards out there anymore that I trust fully.

Does anyone have any ideas to fix this problem without a new motherboard or possible some ideas of what else could be wrong?

Manually set your CPU voltage to a static/higher value. See if it fixes.

Also, could be a load line calibration issue. I know on one of the Asus motherboard I had, I was getting alot of vdroop and stuff, aswell as random restarts, tweaking load line calibration fixed it for me.
