Water cooling units vs Custom loop?

It's cheaper to use AIOs, definitely. And if you have the same radiator surface area, there would be little difference in performance. 

 

Custom loops are often quieter (better pumps, more rad space allows for lower RPM fans), and potentially better performing if you have more rad space than an AIO. 

 

IMO, it's normally not worth it from a performance standpoint alone. It's more for the looks, process of doing it and how quiet it can be.

So lately or for awhile I have been thinking about if anything is there really a difference between a water cooling loop vs slapping on a water cooling unit for a GPU and a water cooling unit for a CPU usually this is something that linus would probably wonder about but its been really getting to me.

I am really lazy when it comes to wanting to do stuff and Its kinda risky to just entrust yourself with doing enthusiast stuff like water cooling loops, I get nervous allot when it just comes to installing parts and stuff just because of all the potential risks that can happen, Is it cheaper to install water cooling units vs water cooling loops?

Water cooling (both custom loop vs AIO and AIO vs air) is more about looks than performance per dollar. Custom will give you slightly better results, but if you're not in it for the looks, your money's better spent elsewhere.

If you make a post contradicting mine that doesn't directly address my claims, or cites 'facts' without evidence, I'm probably not going to bother responding to it, because you probably didn't bother reading my post properly, and because life is too short. Cheaper for AIO's IMO but Custom is so much cooler because of the customisability and self-achievement that you get from it. 

I think cooler is the wrong adjectiv for neat in this thread :P

Yeah I can understand that, I probably will get into that stuff later on in my life but for now I really only have one computer and if I screw it up well RIP.

A well specced loop will out perform an AIO without question. But the gap is relatively small as the extra radiator space and better waterblocks are playing with just 10-15C to ambient for the water. Most custom loops target 10C from ambient and the better AIOs get close to the same. But its possible to go down to 2C if you wanted its just a lot of hardware.

You have to spend a lot more to get maybe -10C temperatures compared to an AIO
