Hi guys! I wanted to ask: which cooler option is good for this CPU? Air or water cooling?

Is it needed while running in stock speeds?

Is air good for a slightly OC?

Is water the only option for a good OC?

Thanks in advance guys.

how much room is there in the case, because some air coolers cool as good as water coolers. I have read that some coolers crush skylake cpus, so just be aware of that.

You need a cooler no matter what

A good air cooler will do just fine for overclocking the main difference is water does a better job moving the heat away from the CPU so temps will be lower but OCs won't typically be better.

Yes, any sort of cooling (air or water) is needed when running the cpu at stock speeds.

Anyways, you get more bang for your buck with air coolers, they are cheaper, reliable and most of the times on-par with liquid coolers. Yes, aios ARE better for ocing but the difference in temps is minimum and imo its not worth the price you pay for it. A basic cpu cooler would be the hyper 212 evo, my personal fave would be the be quiet dark rock 3 or if you still want to go with an aio the nzxt kraken x61 is a great option.

When running stock, you'll still need a cooler (as the 6700k doesn't come with one). Although that would be stupid, as you are effectively wasting money when compared to a 6700 without the K. Don't run stock. Please.

For slight~moderate OCs, a cheaper aircooler will do perfectly fine.

For high OCs, though, you'll need a beefier cooler. Now, there are large aircoolers which go on par with WC; however, #Skylake Bengate is real, and they already cost as much a WC anyway, so you might as well just jump to one of those.

It is an S340 NZXT.

Was planning getting an hyper 212 evo, so it should be more than enough then. Thanks guys.

Corsair H110i GT, Kraken X61 or if you have the cash, EK Predator 240. You won't regret either.
