It's me again, I'm deciding between the Xeon x3220 and Core 2 Quad Q6600 processors. I'm leaning towards the Xeon but I first need to find out if my motherboard is compatible with the processor

I have an OEM Asus IPIBL-LA motherboard with the Northbridge Intel G33 and Soutbridge ICH9R chipsets. Will this be compatible with the processor I want to purchase? I have been having difficulty finding information stating whether the two are compatible.

Here is a link to the motherboard on the HP website: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01077641

I don't know if this is only for HP based systems, but HP doesn't contain information about Xeon CPUs: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01077641

do I need to be using the motherboard? I have no processor for it as it was pulled out of a scrapped rig I found.

EDIT: It only tells me what motherboard I am using, I said the motherboard I have is an IPIBL-LA Mothearboard

It only supports the SLACR (G0) version of the Q6600. Which means it should support its G0 Xeon counterpart as well as it's the same microcode.

Okay, according to CPU World the x3220 is a G0 processor, I should be able to use it then?
