GTA 4 audio problems

Hello,

 

Today I've encountered a problem with GTA 4. I launched the game and there was no audio. I tried updating headphone drivers which did not work. Other games do have sound.

 

Now if I reinstall the game by right clicking the game in steam and selecting delete local content, will it delete my progress too, rather than only the game files? I do not want to start over because I've already spent 40 hours in the game.

Just back up your save files, Documents>Rockstar Games> GTA IV
