Hello there, I'm trying to install Windows 10 onto an old desktop that I had laying around after buying a new hard-driver for it. But for some reason I just cannot get the boot-disk or USB to be read. I put the disk in but when I'm prompted to select the file, there are none to pick from. I'm fairly new at this, so I'm not sure what I've done wrong. I've also tried letting play through the Bios prompt but I only get "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key".

BIOS Version: 02.61 American Megatrend.

If anyone cold offer some insight I'd be much appreciative.

If you have a spare computer, install the hard drive into that computer, install windows 10 and install the hard drive back in the old computer and boot from the hard drive. This should work.

if you already enabled boot select on bios, jam the key on boot. its usually f12. you should be able to see your USB drives there, unless its a really ancient desktop that required a diskette just to enter windows install?

Sadly I've tried that, but it I've never been able to get the option to load from a USB. It's an old computer, 2009, but I don't know if that would be considered that ancient. Though it does give me a floppy disk option...

That idea came to me too. I wanted to learn how to do it with my old computer, but I don't think I'll be left with much of a choice. :P
