I am having a problem where recently my computer feels sluggish. Click down below to view specs. I don't know why but windows sometimes take longer than normal to maximize. My CPU usage isn't above 30% and my GPU has less than 20% usage on it. What could be going on? Games still play fine, and it still boots fast.

EDIT: For example when I was hitting post there was a cut in the music im listening to. I have avg installed and malwarebytes.

What programs are running in the background when this sometimes occurs?

"It pays to keep an open mind, but not so open your brain falls out." - Carl Sagan.

"I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you" - Edward I. Koch

"I didn't die! I performed a tactical reset!" - Apollolol

But what about programs in the notification area?

Try closing some of the unnecessary ones. Some of them may be interfering with Windows.

I looked in task manager and javaw.exe was consuming 13% cpu (a lot for a i7 3770k) so I looked around, well I was deleting stuff in my downloads folder, and low and behold somehow a minecraft server was running on my computer... confusing.

Yeah, that's weird. Did you close the server? If so, was the problem fixed?

You should go through your start up items and " un-check " programs because most of them dont need to start when you power up. In case you dont know how, heres a basic run through.

-start button

-run>type in msconfig

>hit enter

that brings you to the configuration page.

-click selective start up

-click the start up/menu TAB then go through the list and un-check the programs you dont need at power up (which is most of what you have running in the pic)

-hit apply

-exit and re-start

It should now be much better.

Current Rig as of 7/30/13

A10-6800k, Asrock Extreme 6, 16GB Kingston Hyper X 2133Mhz RAM, Asus 2GB 7770, OCZ vertex 4 128GB SSD, 2TB Barracuda HDD, Rosewill Hive 750 watt supply, and CM Storm Trooper case.

If you already knew that, then why have so many un-needed programs running?? No wonder it seems sluggish lol
