GPU Bottlenecking in 3D Workloads

Hello,

How much does a graphics card bottleneck in an operation like 3D rendering/animating, and how much of a performance reduction does it cost?

Reduction over what?  There must be a baseline performance metric before a bottleneck can be determined in comparison.

GPU is most important for 3D workloads. That's what it's designed for

Current PC: Origin Millennium- i7 5820K @4.0GHz | GTX 980Ti SLI | X99 Deluxe

Yes, if your CPU can't process non 3Dt data fast enough to send to your GPU then you will get bottlenecks.

Rendering is primarily CPU but can also be GPU accelerated. Look up the application you are planning to use. 

Current PC: Origin Millennium- i7 5820K @4.0GHz | GTX 980Ti SLI | X99 Deluxe

I know all about the application, it is blender and uses the GPU almost entirely.  Do you know something about that?
