New graphics card, only VGA turns on monitor

DVI and HDMI are not working on my new msi r9 270, as the monitors don't even turn on when my computer boots. Any ideas on how to fix this would be highly appreciated. My integrated still work, and i've tried installing the drivers many times but something goes wrong in the install.

Try disabling your onboard video in the BIOS, some automatically do, some don't.  If windows sees the O/B version, it may not look for the new card.  Just a guess based on my install experiences.

After that, If you've plugged your monitor into the new card and your computer won't even display a boot screen, it's probably DOA.

I had a similar problem with my 210 yesterday where the installer wouldn't install the drivers. I ended up going into Device Manager and manually installing the drivers from where NVIDIA's installer had extracted them to.

Also before I installed the graphics card, I went into the BIOS and set the northbridge gpu selection to PCIE

Also, if this is for a windows OS, note that newer versions of windows handle multi-GPU setups better, but may still have problems with O/B and GPU card co-existence.  Once you've gotten a working display from the GPU, you should be able to install the drivers.  Then, if you want, you can see if you can get the O/B video to work with the card, just activate it and see if windows is OK with it.  If not, well, it was worth a try. ;)

Oh, one more thing - some mobos are picky about where a single PCIe video card is installed - make sure you follow any instructions your mobo has on that.

OK so a manual install of drivers won't change anything. I can manually set the resolution of my monitors, but can only use one as I only have 1 dvi to VGA adapter. And since it isn't showing the BIOS with a dvi of HDMI, could it be an issue with the card?
