Monitors 2016

Currently I'm rocking two 25" HP monitors at 1080p for my computer setup. I've watched quite a few reviews between Linus and other tech channels, and I have come to the conclusion that I really want to try out a 34" 21:9 monitor instead of duals.

My question is, is right now the time to buy? The ultrasharp Dell is about $800 right now and the LG is as low as $549.

My friend has encouraged me to wait, stating that 2016 will be a game changer in display technology. I wish I had been keeping up with this. So I wanted others opinions.

At the same price point, will I find something much better in the works or are the current 21:9 monitors good enough to warrant a purchase now?

For what it's worth, I understand that tech is an always changing animal, but will the displays change in such a way that it warrants waiting for a better deal?
