If it's marketed as "gaming" RAM, it's just a gimmick. RAM is RAM. Not all RAM comes with an XMP profile if it is only running at the standard JEDEC speed for whatever RAM type it is (DDR2/3/4). For DDR3 this would be 1333MHz, DDR4 2133MHz.

Yes, the slot configuration matters. If you have a 2 stick kit and want dual channel operation (you do) put the DIMM's in the appropriate color matched slots (like color with like color). Depending on the manufacturer of your MOBO they may want the first populated slots to be a certain channel configuration, this is always noted in your manual (read it).

It's 1866mhz DDR3 it runs at that speed but I thought it was weird to see XMP disabled but thanks for letting me know that not all higher speed ram than 1600 have it! And yes I did check it and thanks. I changed it back to dual channel, I did set the ram sticks "wrong" but still no XMP. Though the ram does not appear in my list of qualified ram it still works fine

Is this in an AMD build? XMP support on AMD is spotty at best and sometimes comes with different nomenclature for enabling different profiles for RAM (XMP is technically an Intel thing), which may be why it's not showing up.

If you are using an Intel system what is the model # for your RAM? Every kit I've gotten in the last 6-7 years has come with an XMP profile (it should have one).

It's a Intel build and I used this memory:

It says automatic overclock to 1866 maybe that is "XMP" that is auto? No idea it's my first kit of HyperX

That explains it. Every other manufacturer, and even other models in Kingston's lineup have XMP profiles. The HyperX Fury line does not, it operates on PnP (unfortunately).

You'll just have to set up the RAM manually with the correct speeds and timings. Shouldn't be too difficult, your board should have built-in speed dividers to choose from (1866 in this case). Then go into the primary timings set-up page within the BIOS and set them according Kingston's recommended settings.

Worst case, as long as you have set the speed divider to 1866 the auto values will propagate during POST, although the timings may end up a bit looser than what the kit is capable of.
