Hello, I live in Australia so I use Australian Dollars. I am going to invest into a new upgrade. Currently I have already bought the graphics card and the case. The graphics card is the MSI GTX 670 Power Edition Twin Frozr IV 2GB. The sole purpose of this machine is purely for gaming and nothing else. I am not really good with picking parts but I have compiled this list.

So other than that, everything is good? I forgot to mention I already have a 1tb hard drive for storage.

For as low of a budget as $500, I'd honestly just get 2nd hand components. I'm from Australia too and I recently picked up a 2600K, 16GB RAM and an ASUS P8Z68M Pro for $300. You can probably find deals like that on Gumtree.

You already have a case, so $200 for a CPU cooler, PSU and storage isn't too bad. You can get a 120mm AIO (e.g. Deepcool Maelstrom 120K for $75, which I highly recommend and recently purchased myself).

Overclock that 2600K and it'll smoke anything you can get new for the same price. I got mine to 4.8 GHz with around 20 mins of work and tinkering, it gets higher in Cinebench than basically everything but the 6700K and up.

My Personal Rig - AMD 3970X | ASUS sTRX4-Pro | RTX 2080 Super | 64GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB DDR4 | CoolerMaster H500P Mesh

My Wife's Rig - AMD 3900X | MSI B450I Gaming | 5500 XT 4GB | 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 | Silverstone SG13 White

I guess you are right but my case does not exactly provide adequate ventilation and for unavoidable reason I cannot change it. I would like to keep the overclock to the minimum as it might burn down my house :P

Still better to go with 2nd hand parts at that budget. I wouldn't start thinking about new parts unless I was looking to spend at least $1k.

Well I need to explain my situation more clearly, I personally don't mind buying firsthand parts because I don't really expect lots. I just require 1080p 60fps on my fairly old games. I don't need a beast rig to run 4k etc.You could say I am a peasant but my expectations are unexpectedly low. There is too much hassle in buying second hand parts as I personally can't deal with those things as I don't have the resources to do so. Sorry, I am frustrating but I understand why second hand would be better.
