Well, I really want to get the best out of $2000. My PC would be for gaming, development, video/photo editing. I would like to have a very good build that would last for around 3-4 years before upgrading/changing some parts...

For now I have purchased the Memory, SSD, Monitor and the case. What is making me confusing that, should I go with 5820k even though it is 1 year old and the next generation is coming out! Or should I go with 6700k? Also what motherboard would you recommend guys if I go with 5820k?

Really appreciate your opinions.

I've had the pc im currently using for 8 years :P Upgrading this christmas. I would recommend a R9 380 4GB, it has a bit better performance, and is a bit better value. Otherwise, change the PSU to something from, xfx seasonic, or EVGA G2/GS series.

Ryzen 5 1600 - GTX 980 Ti - Broke.

1. 5820k is better, stick with it.

2. Don't get the 2TB Seagate Hard Drive, get the WD Black 2TB if you need 2TB, or just WD Blue 1TB.
3. I actually build a PC with that motherboard for my dad, it's quality made, it suprised me how good it is to be honest.
4. If you want futureproofness, change the GPU to a R9 390 within that price point, or invest some more money into it and get R9 Fury for instance. GTX 970 is not a good 'futureproof' choice, although such thing does not exist to be honest.

5. Get this as your headphones (also 7.1): http://pcpartpicker.com/part/logitech-headphones-981000257 and this as your keyboard: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/logitech-keyboard-920003887

And you're pretty much done.

Thanks for the tips. There are couple of things that are concerning me about AMD GPUs; the Driver and the TDP. I know that GPU can't be future proof, an upgrade is a must to play games decently every 2 years.

Thank you for the motherboard and the other parts :)

AMD offers better GPUs in the current generation of GPUs. Drivers and TDP are a myth, there's nothing wrong with them :)

What about Corsair PSU ?

Corsair PSUs are overpriced, XFX, Seasonic, EVGA (certain models) or SuperFlower are usually cheaper and just as good/better

yeah... if you're gonna be spending 2k don't get an AMD gpu, especially since in the past some years games have been running like shit on AMD platforms vs Nvidia ones

Future proof would be getting rid of the other pricy pieces and throwing w 980ti in the build with like a 4790k as the processor won't be a bottleneck anytime soon.

You made me more confused :D. I really don't like spending a fortune on 980Ti specially at a time like this where the new GPUs will be released around 2Q '16

It's pretty true. When it comes to some games which were broken such as arkham knight or that just cause game that came out, AMD platforms were much more likely to have issues (also those that have SLI for batman). but if you had a normal intel and nvidia system they run mostly good. my best bro has arkham knight and only had one crash (and that was just a one time thing, him marathoning the game that day)

That's funny. Cause when Arkham Knight was released I have read reports about people with 980Ti's dropping to 15FPS. By only turning on Nvidia ShitWorks setting with interactive smoke, one of the forum members drops from 90FPS average to 55FPS average on his 980Ti. Broken.

don't know what to say about that. me and my friend both have 4790k and gtx 980 builds (only difference is mine has 16gb of ram and he has 8gb ram, and my gpu is gigabyte, his Evga) and the game runs flawlessly on both. The only change I made on both systems is editing the game file to get rid of the 30fps cap

It runs on my 290X great too, I also didn't have any real issues before the game got patched, some FPS dips with my old GTX 970, that's all.

If you're curious, benchmark the game with and without interactive smoke option, remember that you need to restart the game for the setting to turn on and you'll see ^^

meh, too late for that. also I don't own the game myself, just do library share with my friend.

R9 380 has better performance than the 970? Are you high?

The 970 is a competitor of the 390, not the 380. Please don't use Battlefront as a benchmark, it's highly preferential of AMD hardware, just like some games (such as Crysis 3) is preferential of Nvidia hardware.
