Another PSU advice

WildCAt
Go to solution Solved by STRMfrmXMN,

There is no Antec PSUs in Lithuania at all :\

OK, well then I'd go for that Seasonic then!

Hello! ^^
I'm planning to build a PC soon
The only thing left to choose is PSU.

components will be (I'm not sure about budget yet)
Asus Ranger z170
6600k
WD blue 1 TB (+ maybe SSD and another HDD later)
8 GB RAM (+maybe more later)
MSI R9 390
Maybe deepcool maelstrom 240
some fans
And LED mods
I think I'll need ~700W PSU or more... (i'll OC GPU and CPU)

Can you tell me the cheapest and the most reliable (among cheap) PSU? :D

Seasonic M12II Bronze 750 = good choice?
or it is possible to live safely with AeroCool KCAS 700W? I know it has a little drop on 12V under load, but is it OK and can handle this system? (it's 2x cheaper xD)

Or maybe if you have some time you can suggest me another PSU from here? (cheaper than mentioned seasonic, if possible)

Thanks in advice! ^^""

Just choose the cheapest from one of the good manufacturers (antec, corsair, cooler master, evga, silverstone...), that has everything you want (modularity or a specific efficiency rang).

Dont get that Aerocool, thay are worse than Corsair cx series. The seasonic is a good psu, also you dont really need 700w,even 500w from a good psu is enough, but having headroom for doing some overclocking is good.I would go for the Seasonic psu if i were you

That system will hit maybe 400W with overclocks so 700W is overkill.

ummm... but according to this site

http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator

it is consuming ~ 600W with OC and ~ 690W with a lot of peripherals, HDDs and other stuff in crazy scenario

Also I don't want to load PSU for 100%

Online calculators are trash. This video with a 3770k and 680, both with hefty overclocks, shows how much people overestimate power usage. Keep in mind a 390X only uses about 50-75W more than a 780ti or 680.

TL;DR:  350W of usage at absolute all out peak with overclocks.

Mhm... I see..

But..

MSI page about r9 390 says that

Power consumption (W) 275

and

Recommended PSU (W) 750

I know that it is always written more, to cover everything, but still..400W? Sounds crazy :D

It may sound crazy but MSI lists that on their website so you don't get some 250W POS power supply to run it. 700W is a number where you start to filter out bad PSUs and get into good ones. I'd suggest that you get an EVGA GQ/GS/B2/G2 - whichever you can afford, at about 650W.

Ouch, these prices :D

What about Seasonic S12II-620?

That's a good choice, but not modular iirc. Can you afford the Antec High Current Gamer?

There is no Antec PSUs in Lithuania at all :\

EDIT: actually, I don't mind if it will be not modular
