Overclocking high temperatures?

rickyworldprousa

So my 6700K runs 4.7Ghz @ 1.325 V, the system is stable but when I'm benchmarking, it stays between 65°C - 80°C when only one core is active, goes between 80°-88° when 4 is active, ocationally goes up to 90°C- 92°C. Is that bad or is it OK??

92% is ok under max load.

Just make sure you clean the pc for dust or it will thermal throttle

Thank you guys. I'm using Corsair H110i GT, motherboard is Asus z170-pro.

Then something is very wrong, I have a H100i GTX which is a smaller version of the H110i GT and I get a max temp of 70C @ 1.325v on my 6600K. Might want to make sure the cooler is mounted properly and it's getting good air flow.

Is it possible that the cooler and the motherboard are not compatible? When I was installing it there was a bit of space between the top 4 screws and the bottom 4 screws and the motherboard, but after I mounted the whole things it holds very well.

Think it's supposed to be like that to prevent people over tightening the cooler. Turn it back to stock settings and run the benchmark and see what temps you get.

When I put everything to Auto I get max 63C, usually 60-62C under max load. but it's only running 4Ghz.

Ok sounds like you were giving it too much voltage, turn the overclock back on and use Hardware Monitor to check it's running at 1.325v

I tried 4.5ghz, with 1.225V entered in to BIOS, when benchmarking, CPU-Z shows it's having 1.232V and it's only running at 72-74 most of the time and occasionally max out at 76C. How does this look? can I go lower voltage but maintain 4.5Ghz?

It should be ok, still can't figure out why it's so hot though. How do you have the fans and radiator setup?

New settings: 4.6Ghz @ 1.248V constant, in real bench when benchmarking max temp is just below 80C. average 77-79C

While in 3Dmark when benchmarking, max temp 69C.

2x 140 stock fans came with the case (corsair 780T), one Corsair AF140 CO-9050009-WW for exhaust. 2x 140 fans that came with h110i gt with the radiator on top in pull.
