I just bought Just Cause 3 on steam and I'm having some performance issues. I realize the game just came out and it will properly get performance updates later down the road anyway.

I'm just wondering if I increase my ram from (1x) 4gb to (2x) 8gb will there be an improvement in performance because I'm currently running the game in 1920x1200 withALL the settings turned down (including anti-aliasing and Anisotropic filtering turned off) and I'm getting around 30fps which I'm ok with but then it suddenly drops down to 1-5 and starts to studder. At the moment the GPU and CPU usage sits around 50-60% and the ram is at a constant 90% usage. BTW I went crazy with steam sales and bought Watch Dogs, GTA V, Fallout 4, Tomb Raider 2013, Hitman Absolution, Wolfenstein - The New Order, Sniper Elite 3, Black Mesa, Metro last light and 2033 and Gary's Mod. All these games run smoothly without anyway stuttering or frame drops at high to ultra settings with anti-aliasing and Anisotropic filtering turned on. I think Just Cause 3 must just be a heavy ram user. And I run two monitors at all times with one playing light games and another running a video. But when I disconnected the second one to test it there was no increase in performance.

Do you guys think I need to  buy myself more ram or is it just a problem with Just Cause 3?

Well the game lists 6GB as the minimum graphics requirements. The game is probably having a tough time trying to keep everything in memory so its resorting to using a page file on the HDD which is exponentially slower than RAM. So yes RAM is most likely your issue.

Edit: Your 950 may be holding you back as well.

Didnt you already post this in another thread.. pretty sure as i replied to it.. and that aint here.

950 plays it fine. Check digital foundry's video on jc3 with 750ti cos he also uses the 950 and it pulls 35-45fps with an i3 and 8gb of 1600mhz memory.

You just need to get more system ram.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

dual channel that shit. before purchasing ram, check how many slots your mobo has. if it has 4 or more, another 4 gig stick will be fine. if you only have two, consider skipping the 4gb kit, and going straight to 2x8gb. not essential, 8gb is enough for gaming nowadays, but outside of gaming, i personally find 8gb not enough with chrome eating up close to 7gb and windows taking some more.
