I am changing my rig(bold means reusing) and had some questions

OLD:

fx 8320 stock

msi mob nongaming

2 intel 530 240gb ssd (raid 0)

2 bluray players

1tb 5000 rpm hdd

gt 620 (i think)

400 watte power suppy

New:

i7 4790k

hydro 212 (later custom loop)

Asus z97 ws

2 intel 530 240gb ssd (raid 0)

2 bluray players

2 3tb 7200 rpm segate hdd (raid 1)

msi gtx 980 gaming 4g

750 watt power

This pc used to be an hp from when 7 first came out (i did change the case and everything else for that mater at this point except one of the bluray players) and learned that Microsoft will allow you to change your mobo and processor if the os is verified on the hdd or ssd. I was wondering if i could just pop in my raid 0 boot drive into the new board and it will work long enough for me to deal with Microsoft automated system and punch in a new code before installing a fresh os? do i need to install it on that 1tb then verafy with the new mobo then recreate the raid 0 and install fresh on the raid0

and should i overclok this build it is more for video editing and some games now that it can handle them well.

First of all, make sure your PSU won't explode in a shower of sparks and flaming metal. Get a reliable power supply from a legendary company like Corsair, Seasonic or Silverstone. (I would only use Silverstone SFX power supplies for a tiny build, otherwise, I'm sticking with a Corsair or Seasonic PSU). You should overclock, especially because video transcoding and rendering uses lots of CPU time. You will need to rebuild your RAID configuration. I would not use that RAID configuration. If I'm looking for performance, I would RAID0 the two SSDs (again, I would only RAID an Intel SSD), then use software RAID to RAID1 the SSD array to the HARD DRIVE. That way, you have no downtime, and if one of your SSDs goes out, you can still boot your system and work off of your hard drive. I would then get another drive and use that as a project storage drive and a third drive (if you can) as a scratch disk/read/write disk. You can set your scratch disk in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and pretty much any editing program for PC except Windows Movie Maker (although if you're using Windows Movie Maker, first of all, really? And second of all, you can't call yourself a video editor).

Awesome. Yes. Do overclock. Get a decent cooler, then overclock. The better the cooling performance, the more overclock you'll likely be able to get. Good luck in school!
