It's a good board, could differently get a cheaper one that does all the same stuff just without all the mostly useless extra features.

 

Not sure when it was released but I think it's a little over a year old.

CPU: 6600K @ 4.6Ghz | COOLER: H100i GTX | MOBO: Asus Z170 AR | GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 Ti Hybrid | RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB |

Probably the same time, all the motherboard manufacturers have there boards ready for the release of a new platform so a lot of them are released around the same time.
