I have a 3770K and a h61. I was looking for a new motherboard for overclocking and i found this P8Z68-V for R$400 (something like $100), but now i have the opportunity to exchange the 3770k for a 4690k and buy an asus hero vi for R$500 ($128).

is worth taking the 4690k or should i continue with the 3770k?

i live in Brazil, everything is expensive and hard to find (for example, 6700k costs $650)

That 3770K is barely slower single threaded, and it will be more relevant for a long time due to it being an i7. With the 3770K and that motherboard you won't need a new computer for a long time.

thank you guys, i will stay with the 3770k.

btw, the P8Z68-V is a good mb?

I have the p8z68 Deluxe and I love it. You just have to make sure that it has the newest BIOS to support the 3770K

My 4690k overclocked to 4.6GHz beats a 3770 in Cinebench. Not enough to make it an upgrade but wanted to correct this.

Stock or overlcocked i7 3770K? Also, single or multi threaded?

stock 3770, multi threaded. With the 3770k overclocked it would be a foot race. The single threaded scores of the 4690k are much higher than the 3770k. But that's to be expected as the 4690k is all about single thread performance for gaming.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Might want to check again, the 4690K isn't a lot faster single threaded.

I looked, still faster.

And that's because its overclocked to 4.5GHz not running at 3.5GHz. like the 3770.

Single core? I got a nice return on my overclock(@4.6fyi) but not that good  . The 4690k still spanks the 3770k at single core performance clock for clock. Clock for clock the 3770K wins multi threaded, as it should with hyperthreading. That's why it's a footrace to see who can clock more between the two.

Like I said, it's not worth replacing the 3770k with a 4690k even though the single core performance is better. Just correcting a bit of information.

The 4790k gets beat by the 6600k depending on the task, this is nothing new or out of the ordinary.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

5-10% is the only difference single threaded-that's not a spanking. A spanking is a 5.3GHz FX 8350 losing to a stock i5 4440 single threaded.

To be fair, that's a 1.1GHz overclock to beat the i7.
