/r/microsoftsoftwareswap

Go to solution Solved by Kherm,

Exactly. Sketchier and cheaper. May be legit, may get screwed. You're just taking a bet.

I need a copy of Windows 8.1 64-bit as my trial of it is about to run out. I've heard multiple things about /r/microsoftsoftwareswap and how people can sell you not for resale keys and pirated copies of windows. Its a lot cheaper than buying off of somewhere like newegg, but seems sketchier. Anyone have any experience on this? Thanks in advance for any help :D

Generally very reliable, as long as you buy from one of their verified sellers.

They sell you msdn keys which are not for resale. Those keys tend to be blacklisted by Microsoft making your windows not genuine after a couple months.

I've seen people say this, but are there people who attest to either this happening to them, or people who can attest to buying a key from /r/microsoftsoftwareswap years ago and have it still be working? I'm interested to know what the posterity rate is on those transactions.

Its honestly quite random. Depends on when Microsoft discovers the illegally sold key.
