First Build

I love watching Linus Tech Tips but have always been a console gamer.  I recently decided to build a gaming PC with my daughter and was able to pickup a few items online during Black Friday.  I got pretty good deals on a Asus Strix GTX 970, a 1TB hard drive and a 650 watt power supply.  I am looking at purchasing the rest of the components this week.  I am currently looking at the items below but I am not sure about the CPU and motherboard.  I want to make sure that I am getting the best components for my money.  I am spending around $800-$900 for the PC.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

CPU - i5 4690K

Motherboard - ASRock Gaming Fatal 1ty Z97

RAM - G Skill Ripjaws DDR3 8GB

CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Windows 10 Home 64 bit

Case - Cooler Master HAF 912 Mid Tower

970 is good too, and also worth it, especially if you get a good deal. Build seems good, Case is not my thing but the case is quite subjective. Some people might go Asus for a first build because of the brand and trust in it's ease of setup, but AsRock gives more specs for less money, and this mobo would almost certainly be plenty for what you need.

Thanks, I picked the 970 up for $270 after mail in rebate. I am open the suggestions for the case. I was looking for a case that has plenty of room and airflow. The case above looked like it would give me plenty of room to work since it is my first build.
