tl;dr: Disable the service NvContainerLocalSystem (NVIDIA LocalSystem Container), apply mouse settings and then restart the service

This thread is old but this bug is still not resolved by the devs.
For whoever stumbles across this thread through Google (like me) here is a workaround that works on my system:
- Open task manager
- Select tab "Services"
- Right-click on "NvContainerLocalSystem" (NVIDIA LocalSystem Container) and click "Stop"
- In the Mionix Software click on "Apply" (it still takes a few seconds, but it should not freeze / crash)
- In Task Manager right-click on "NvContainerLocalSystem" again and click "Start"

I was really happy to find this fix because this mouse is the only one I can use anymore that doesn't hurt my wrist, but it still doesn't stop the software from crashing😞

The "NvContainerLocalSystem" (NVIDIA LocalSystem Container) service was the only process on my system causing this.

Here is a more general workaround that should work for everyone:

- In the Mionix Software click on "Apply" (it will freeze)

- Open task manager

- Select tab "Details"

- Right-click on "NAOS3200_Config.EXE" and click "Analyze wait chain"

- A dialog opens up showing all processes preventing the Mionix Software from saving

- Close all those processes cleanly or force end/kill them

- The Mionix Software should no longer be frozen
