EVGA 430W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply

That right there is not a good idea. Something a little more beefy and higher quality is a good idea if you're going to run a power hungry R9 290. Also the MSI 970A-G43 is a rather bland and weak motherboard. It's not terrible by any means, just don't bank on overclocking much.

The rest of the build looks fine for a budget. So at least up your PSU to a 550W, at this (I'm assuming low) budget it doesn't have to be a super duper awesome one but it is much less likely you will have issues down the road.

Edit:

the 16 GB of RAM seems out of proportion with the rest of the build.  I think 8 would fit it better

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

I see. Not gonna overclock my hardware ever. I guess I'll switch out the power supply to a higher one and the ram, that's the only thing I'm confused about. Should I get 16gb or 8gb?

8GB is more than enough, even now. In the future maybe 16GB will be the sweet spot. And with an FX6300 you'll end up either wanting to overclock or even needing to down the road, it's a good chip but it's starting to show it's age.
