Would it work?

Go to solution Solved by Imakuni,

That was my question D: but idk man, its my family who is making the computer, and my brother spec'd it out xD im just asking in his stead

Exactly, tell your family not to spend money appropriately. Either OC mobo + OC CPU, or non-OC (and cheaper) for both. Use that money to go to a restaurant or a spend on a vacation; hell, even donate it to me if you'd prefer. But don't waste it on mismatched components.

Oh, and BTW, if you decide to downstep the mobo, don't get the Xeon regardless. Get the 6700 (without the K). Not only it's cheaper, it also has integrated graphics, which is something the Xeon does not have.

Hey guys, my family and I are specking out a PC, and though its a beast, they don't wanna get liquid cooling and stuff :(

On the other hand, its time for EXPIREMENTATION

We were wondering if an ASUS ROG Maximus VII Impact blah di blah would work with an Intel Xeon E3

Here is a link to the two:

They do have the same chipset, but we wanted to ask and see if anyone knew for sure before we ordered etc.

Thanks guys! And im ready for my family's build one way or another :D

Bro, stop. Why are you going to spend so much money on a mobo designed for OCing, but get a locked CPU? Why waste it?

Either get a cheaper mobo (h170 / b150 / h110), or a 6700k. Please.
