Around a month ago there was a power surge. Afterward my pc ran very weird, I rebooted to thinking that that would resolve it when it didnt. I't made it worse.

l01_initialization_failed

specs:

OS: Windows 10 Pro 64Bit

HDD: SEAGATE Desktop 1000GB         ST1000DM003

MB: AM1M-S2H

CPU: AMD 5350

RAM: BALISTIX 2x4 8GB 1600mhz

PSU: ULTRA 400W ATX

If i normally start the computer with my HDD it gives me an error: "l01_initialization_failed"

pt.1 I have no overclocks. I've tried to do what one of the pinned threads said: boot onto installation disk, Click repair pc, Then click on open cmd.

My process was different, i did everything the same till i reached opening the cmd. it took me to an "Advanced options/Power off" menu. like the ones you get when u power down during a boot up. I went into advanced and opened the cmd, did "diskpart list disk". I then received this error:

"On computer: MININT-5JQGL0P

DiskPart was unable to process the parameters.
Use 'diskpart /?' for more information."

pt.2 When i attempt to reinstall windows onto the HDD it states: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu." Note: only difference from before the power surge and after is a GPU, but the CPU has integrated graphics. GPU is working and in a different computer.

pt.3 When it boots with the HDD/and or USB connected it says "No bootable device is detected System will enter the BIOS Setup Utility."

(GIGABYTE -UEFI BIOS)

When i go to "Save & Exit" under "Boot Override it gives 2 labels, a Lexar USB Flash drive and my HDD. if i boot into the USB it Gives the same errors as

pt1

it is unlikely to be the Motherboard, as i recived it from RMA today, thinking that is what was wrong. (sent it around 2 1/2 weeks ago)

i will check back in 8 hours, i've been at it since i got home and its almost 11PM

Thank you for any help that you can provide.

The machine won't boot from the USB unless its properly formatted as a boot device.  Go here and click the link that says "download tool now" - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Use that to make a proper bootable Win10 USB drive.  Then boot from that.

Also most Windows 10 installs will automatically go into a repair / reset menu after two consecutive failed boot attempts.  You may be able to fix it via that method as well.

Keep in mind if your HDD has failed, none of this is going to fix the PC.  At that point you'll have to replace the HDD, and do a fresh install.

I am not perfect ooh often forgetfull but I have been taught by computer technicians diagnostics and repair, basically it's a bit long winded trying to explain it, but you just need to backup the data before doing anything and know it's safe change that hard drive to a gpt partition table or delete the partitions in that window click any partitions in that list then click delete on them then if all is well nex button bottom right corner should be clickable and windows should install, if both those methods fail advise research how to scan hard drives for bad sectors or errors using boot disc and scan your hard drive once you look on the hard drive sticker to find the manufacturer in a diagnostic boot disc open hard drive diagnostic tools choose a manufacturer for your hard drive make run short test if fails thats often bad in terms of the level of faultyness of a hard drive normal common answer to that scenario for a technician would be costly often and not the desired result but best  most guarenteed reliable repair or response then is to replace it and try install on new healthy drve if short test says no errors or no problems or healthy run the long test in tool it often can take many hours and again  if that long test also fails best fix again is  unfortunately also replace with a new drive and try install windows off installation media (media means usb stick with windows on/ or cd or dvd with windows on) it's either a hdd format problem or partition that's unrecognised in i the windows nstaller so it says not allowed maybe says faulty or not compatible not readable or it's litterally a broken hdd physically failing motor or mechnics etc which the diagnostic boot disc to test different hard drives like hiren's or ubcd should have the tools to do hdd tests advise you use say ubcd 14+ on todays pc's and hdds as ubcd 9.1 etc seem to hate modern boards and sata drives usb sticks etc etc
