Dont get the AMD cpu get something from intel. More cores does not equal better performance for gaming. So equivalent of that

Intel is not a great option for a budget build, even if they deliver better single core performance.

Intel i9 9900k @ 4.00GHz // NZXT Kraken Z53 // MSI Z390-A PRO // Corsair Vengeance 64GB DDR4 // EVGA RTX 3080 Ti // EVGA SuperNOVA 750W P2 // Crucial MX500 500GB x5 // Seagate FireCuda 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive x2 // Seagate BarraCuda 4TB HDD x2 // NZXT S340 Elite Tempered Glass Mid Tower //

it is in this situation

How so? Most Triple A titles are not CPU intensive, and the 8350 is far more powerful than the 750 Ti can take advantage of.

Great beginner build, but I don't see a case. Have you not chosen one yet, or did you forget to include it?

are you kidding me whats the point of more cores a 4460 is far more powerful than an 8350.

But what warrants an upgrade? I would've recommend downgraded the 8350 to a 6300 for a budget build, and possibly upgrading the GPU. What's the point of a better CPU if you won't be using it?

Modern Triple A games will not take advantage of a 4460 with a 750 ti.

yeah they will it aint about cores its how fast they are and intel wins in this case.

Even though that might be true, keeping in mind that the Intel processor is 180 and the AMD processor is 150 on amazon you don't think it would be worth it to save 30 dollars and just OC the AMD. The Intel is a locked processor. Well you probably knew that already.

It depends on what game you're trying to achieve 50FPS in.

The next logical upgrade in your price range would be to a GTX 960. The 960 destroys the 750 Ti, as it should in a higher price bracket.

Here's a benchmark video comparing the cards.

I would expect slightly worse performance than you see in the video, given the rest of your system isn't quite as powerful, but nothing too dramatic.

Here are a few benchmark videos that document the 960's performance with the FX-6300...

However, if you're willing to spend a little more, the R9 280x is on sale for $229 USD right now, a $30 price increase from the 960 that will deliver significantly better performance.

R9 280x: http://www.amazon.com/XFX-RADEON-1000MHz-Graphics-R9-280X-TDFD/dp/B00FSC5N66/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1448294821&sr=1-5&keywords=r9+280

GTX 960 vs R9 280x

The benchmark of "The Crew" does the best job of showing the performance increase with the R9 280x.

GTA V Benchmark

The R9 280x is definitely above your price range, but I think the performance increase will be worth the hit to your wallet.

Plus, if you downgrade to the 6300, you'll have about $60-$80 (depending on the price of the 8350) more to invest in the graphics card, meaning you'll only be spending about $40 more for the 280x.
