Hard drive not showing up

So I have had my 3tb harddrive inside my Pc case for a while but wanted to use it as an external hard drive so it would make my system quieter so I put it in my doc which I know it works but I will not show up in Explorer but it does in disk management and it says it is a gpt protected drive what does this mean and how can I use it as an external drive?
