My parents are going to use it, they need it to run windows and Word/powerpoint and firefox.

I would not cheap out harder than this if I were you, even if it's a low use scenario

Dear community,

I am planning to build a new PC (actually upgrading my old one) but I want to keep it as cheap as possible.

The purpose of the PC will be solely internet browsing, very minor Office documents editing and printing through a USB printer.

No games, No nothing else, whatsoever.

The uptime is going to be a single digit hours per week or even month.

As you understand, I want the cheapest possible solution.

I was thinking of using my old case and PSU (I dont even know the wattage but I hope it will suffice).

I was thinking of an integrated CPU (on board cpu) maybe a mobo from ASROCK,

a box intel CPU so that I won't need an extra heatsink, 4GB of ram and that's pretty much it.

I was also thinking of a very small and cheap SSD but it drives up the cost so I might not get it.

Since I have no idea what I'm doing here, could you please suggest some parts?

Remeber: The usage is minimum so I want it to be as cheap as possible!

I'm buying from greece, so preferably I want to buy from www.skroutz.gr or www.e-shop.gr

Thank you so much in advance.

1. Budget & Location
I was hopng for something around 100-150 euros, location: Greece

2. Aim
Firefox for internet browsing, microsoft word and powerpoint and printing through an existing  USB printer

3. Monitors
I already have a 19" LG 1280x1024 monitor that i am plannig to reuse.

4. Peripherals
I wont buy any peripherals, I have everything I need.

5. Why are you upgrading?
I am upgrading because the old computer is about a decade old hardware, 1GB of ram on an unsupported motherboard i scravenged from another PC and cant even run windows 7. The NIC is awefull and has a buggy driver so after a few minuted it eats up the ram and crashes...

Why not just use a raspberry pi 2? That's 70 bucks all included.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

man, try to find some used stuff in order to make a pc with 140 euros.

140 euros will get you nearly nothing  brand new.

aggeliopolis and skroutz are good choices to start looking for used stuff.

The site has changed....

For scenarios like this, there is really no point in building it yourself. Just buy a pre-built desktop, at least you get Windows included.

I dont need windows, I have a licenced copy

A prebuild PC costs more.

Thank you Sauron! Do you believe AMD to be better that intel?

At that price point, yes. AMD APU'S combine a cpu and a gpu in one housing removing the need to buy a dedicated gpu.

But there are Intel CPUs with integrated graphics at this price as well e.g. CPU INTEL CELERON G1820 2.70GHZ LGA1150 - BOX

That's why I'm asking. :)

But that's dual cored.  And the APU GPU is more powerful.

Depends on your budget. I don't think a brand is inherently better than the other, but I can say some products are better than others at a certain price. The A6 is superior to intel's offering at the same price.
