Skylanders on Xbox

Hello. Is there anyone who would know if I buy Skylanders, can I use it on xbox 360 and xbox one or do I have to buy specific one for specific console. Because as far as I know Skylanders works on xbox360 and PS3 but what about the new-gen consoles?
