So I've never really been concerned with my GPU temps until lately, hitting 80C when playing games just doesn't seen right to me. I took apart my cards and put new paste on them and same thing. I don't want my PC to sound like an air plane; I'll have a video of temps/sound in here, a mediafire video link. Anyway, I don't think this should be happening with no overclock and fans on a medium fan curve. Also my 2 GPUs have a massive temperature difference. I thought my top one would have better temps since it has better air flow, but no, my bottom one has a lot better temps. Is it time for me to go liquid? I think it would be fun to do. I have no knowledge of liquid cooling, besides the closed loop ones. If you think I should go custom loop would someone mind messaging me what all I would need, and what I need to know. I like the looks of hard tubing, but from what I've heard it's not that easy.

Here is my PC temps and the jet engine that is inside my PC. Fan speeds are on the "Aggressive" setting in this video. Yeah I know my video taking skills are bad and it's sideways...

I can't help you there m8, sorry.

another potential solution could be PCIe riser cables, you can mount your cards further from eachother, assuimg you have the SLI bridge required

They are in the furthest PCIe slot and place they can be from each other. The next lower one my cooler would hit the bottom of my case.

the riser cables are flexible ribbon cables.

Could you post what hardware you're working with? I'm unable to get the video going from the office.

I'd say run the numbers and compare the costs between a custom water cooling loop to handle your GPUs vs buying a single card with a better air cooler that can out-perform those two cards.

Sorry, couldn't see the video to see what you're running.

You might have the option of going with all AIOs if you can find a compatible bracket and have the right spaces to mount the two AIO radiators.

If you want silence then yeah go liquid but tbh you'll need a lot of rad space 240mm per component if you have an intel rig if AMD times that by 2 lol.

Well I have intel CPU, 5820k and it runs very cold, I was folding for 12 hours non-stop and max temp was 58C and Intel Burn test for about 5 minutes was 60C

http://prntscr.com/94ow58

That is on an H100i. 240mm Rad. My case can fit 2x 360 and 1x 140 So probably 2x 360 would be fine.

GPU(s): SLI GTX 970 (Custom Painted Red)

Case: NZXT H440 - Doing Case Mods Soon

I don't think I can sell the cards with the coolers because I did paint them.

AIO wont work because I already have CPU on an AIO which takes up 240mm on my top cover, but I still have another 360 on my front. Maybe keep the AIO I have on my CPU and just go with GPU Loop? Or would that look dumb? I don't really want to drop $700 on some tubes that have water in them. I am looking to be able to get this for Christmas, and yeah I get more than most kids, but I don't want to ask for too much.

Yeah, if you're willing to take on a budget that big, you might want to seriously consider switching the two 970s for a single 980 Ti.

You could even look at the ones that come with 120 aio rads pre installed for the best temps and noise balance. Plenty of overclocking headroom there.

And I wouldn't discount the option of selling the custom painted 970s right away. It could actually be a major selling point to someone looking for a cool and unique system without the hassle.

Recoup some of the cost while you're at it.

I was thinking about a single 980ti, but my parents hate me selling PC parts because they are hard to ship. Also, I would need to buy the 980ti first and then sell the cards, which also doesn't go well with the parents because I currently don't have enough money for that right now. I also would want to paint it red again :)

Well, by that point, there isn't much more I can offer you. It'll be too to you to figure out the parental and shipping logistics.

I can say the following, the custom painted 970s could be sold for over MSRP given the added value of the paint job. You just need to find the people who want a red Nvidia card. ;)

Also, ifv you're willing to take a performance hit for a few days, you can airways send out one of the 970s, get the 980 Ti, and then send out the second 970.

Best of luck to you and I hope it all works out.

Wouldn't mind the performance hit, but still. I hate selling and re-buying parts. I think I'll just see if I have enough for liquid and if not them possible buy a fan and just stick in in my case.
