Okay, so i'm tying to install the Cooler Master Nepton 240m onto my cpu,

I've put a pea sized shape of thermal paste

i realised I didn't set the socket thingy properly and had to remove it,

i"ve wiped the cpu with tissue and water block to remove the paste

but still faint mark on the water block, is that okay? or can i use methylated spirits to clean it

sorry for bad spelling etc in a rush lol

use alcohol to clean it. What do you mean put the socket in wrong? Do you mean the CPU ?

Nah, the like bracket on the pump could move around and I didn't realized that so it wasn't screwing into the stand offs properly :P But i've fixed it now

I have no alcohol, but methylated spirits is 95% alcohol I believe.

Awesome.

And for thermal paste just like a pea sized piece yes?

Yes, just a pea sized drop will do.
